Course Reflection - Vickily's Experience
Vickily is the first website created by us, Vicky and Emily. While we put together the pieces of our website, we learned along the way about the different eras of the history of the United States of America. We learned about history such as the World Wars, the Cold War, the Holocaust, and more. The causes of each of the events were discussed and the effect they each had. Throughout this experience, we experimented with new methods to present ideas and information with Quizlet, Prezi, Mixbook, and GoAnimate. The result of our efforts was a better understanding of U.S. history and our completed Vickily website.
Instead of learning by always reading a textbook, the project forced us to seek out the content ourselves and exercised our research skills. By creating and publishing a website with all the information that we collected, we experienced a different learning style and were able to integrate past history content into the modern world. At the end of this "journey", we recognized that history classes are here for a reason: to make the connections between the modern world and the past, and to learn from the past to make a better future.
